Diploma in Fashion Design QLS Level 4

The level 4 Diploma in Fashion Design includes seven modules;

Unit 1: An Overview of Fashion Design

This is the foundation of the course, it gives the rules governing fashion design and the points to highlight when designing. The basic principles to follow are also discussed.

Unit 2: Elements of Art and Design

This unit states the basic elements involved in the design of garments. It teaches candidates what each element means, how they are applied when designing and how principles and elements of design are linked.

Unit 3: Key Design Principles

This unit enumerates the key design principles to pay attention to when designing, the different types of design principles and how adhering to these principles can improve designs.

Unit 4: Basic Elements of Dress Designing

This unit highlights the basic elements of dressmaking and designing, explaining each one of them. It teaches how to apply these elements when designing and the significance of these elements.

Unit 5: Dress Designing & Colour Selection

This unit describes the process of designing and dress making and it gives the different colour combinations that can be applied to different designs. It also enlightens candidates on how to follow colour trends in order to make their designs recognizable.

Unit 6: Designing Process

This unit illustrates the design process which is essential for product development. It describes the steps taken to create a design and arrange the fabric according to the design.

Unit 7: Fashion Sketching: Drawing the Fashion Figure

This introduces fashion sketching to the candidates, teaching them how to interpret their designs on a fashion figure in a way that non fashion designers will be able to understand and decode.

Concluding this course makes candidates fully equipped with the required skills for the labor market and it prepares them for the final level of Fashion Design. Attaining a diploma in fashion design opens candidates to different job opportunities in the fashion industry and in other areas such as education, earning an annual wage of £36,500.

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).
