Course Syllabus

The award in Hotel Management consists of the following two units.

Unit 1: Introduction to Hospitality Management

The first unit of the award in Hotel Management commences by providing candidates with a comprehensive overview of the hospitality industry. Here, candidates are exposed to the principles, operations, and challenges of the hospitality industry. In addition, as an essential knowledge required of a Hotel Manager, candidates are worked through the concepts of Administration, Human Resources Management, Public Relations among others.

Unit 2: Housekeeping and Food Management

This Unit introduces candidates to the essentials of housekeeping and food management. Candidates explore the various aspects of housekeeping such as the management of inventories for linens, uniforms and cleaning agents, expenses control, laundry operations, security roles of housekeepers etc. This unit also expounds on best practices in food management such as organisation and management of kitchen staff, restaurant planning and layout, table and seating arrangement, budget management and many others.

The hospitality industry offers candidates a wide range of career choices. On completing the course, candidates are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel as Events Planner, Concierges, Front Desk officers, Housekeeper, Bar Manager and other roles with an average salary of £27,364 per annum.

I do like a part dedicated to the practice in your studying material, that prevents from a passive reading of the material and helps to apply a new knowledge right now or at least to try to do it. As well, it's a great technique to memorise new material, because I did remember my answers to your questions in the texts.
