Course Syllabus

Unit 1: Public Relations: An Introduction

An introduction to public relations starts the course; this gives an overview of PR, PR tools & procedures, strategies and three other modules that provide candidates a well-covered knowledge of public relations ranging from theories to application.

Unit 2: PR Tools & Procedures

The second unit of the course focuses on influencing positive attitudes and reception towards a business; candidates get familiar with PR tools and activities that can be used to drive an audience’s positive attitude to business into sales or patronage. This course also explains how to take control of these cost-effective PR tools and use them to gain a solid business reputation.

Unit 3: Fundamentals of Public Relations

Public Relations involve the establishment of a relationship between two groups (organization and public) in a bid to reach a level of mutual understanding and goodwill. As such candidates will after taking this course to be able to analyze the public perception and attitude; and use this as the basis of dealings.

 Unit 4: Strategic Communications Planning for Public Relations

Unit 4 emphasizes the importance of high-level strategic plan as being an essential component of any public relation service; this is a PR management tool used for organizing all PR deliverables to attain ambiguity-free projections of desirable future results.

Unit 5: Corporate Public Relations

In this unit focus is shifted to corporate public relations which is the department responsible for the smooth communication between companies and their stakeholders, with a variety of task, Corporate public Relations tend to be fast-paced, and PR practitioner have to be able to adapt to changing priorities quickly.

Unit 6: Production of PR Material

The sixth unit discusses how the nature and quantity of material differ from program to program. The most important thing is the consistency with which brand message is sent, the clearer the message, the higher the influence and effect on the intended audience.

Unit 7: Communications and Media Relations

The final module is where candidates learn the use of media in disseminating information about the organization to the public in a bid to positively promote the image of the organization. The goal has candidates be able to maximize positive coverage in the mass media while avoiding directing paying directly through advertising.

Career Path

On completing our public relations courses for distance learning candidates can take up a position in any organization’s PR team. Candidates may be able to find work as a media advisor, task manager, or public relation officer in any PR agency or organization. The annual salary ranges from £25,000 to £71,000.
