Nutrition and Dietetics Course Online

Nutrition is a significant determinant of health status. It involves the study of foods, the nutrients they contain, and how to combine these foods in their right proportion to fit individual needs.

This nutrition and dietetics course online is an introductory aspect of what nutrition entails, with the focus being on dieting. It consists of four units carefully prepared to equip candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills required to establish a career in nutrition and advanced studies in the course.

The course begins with an overview of nutrition with definitions and explanation of terms used throughout the course. It then progresses to explain the concept of diet and wraps up with the principles of healthy eating.

Knowledge of nutrition is required to understand the constituents of each food we ingest and how to balance our meals to prevent nutrition-related illnesses that result from malnutrition and eating disorders.

Previous qualification or background knowledge is not prerequisite for our nutrition and dietetics courses, which begin with the basics of the subject. The course offers a flexible schedule, allowing every candidate to learn conveniently at their pace and time, at any location in the world. Course Syllabus

The course is made up of 4 modules. They are:

Unit 1: An Overview of Nutrition

The first unit of the course is an overview of nutrition. This unit aims to introduce candidates to the concept of nutrition and diet, the importance of nutrition, how it affects our body physiology, and the meaning of a healthy diet.

Unit 2: Dietary Nutrition

This unit provided extensive knowledge on a diet, how it affects us, nourishment, dietary requirement, and recommended daily requirements (RDA) across different age groups and health conditions. It also aims to distinguish between diet and nutrition.

Unit 3: Balancing the Diet

The third unit focuses on how to plan an adequate diet to suit an individual. It highlights what a healthy diet comprises of, using examples of common foods but not limiting the students to such meals. They are encouraged to plan meals using foodstuff within their locality.

Unit 4: Principles of healthy eating

The last unit of the course explains what it means to eat healthily and provides tips on how to develop and maintain healthy eating habits.

Career Path

This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and confidence required to pursue a rewarding career in nutritional sciences. Candidates who wish to do this as a profession may earn as much as £50,000 - £70,000 per annum depending on employment factors
