Course Syllabus

The level 3 certificate in travel and tourism is divided into seven units. These are;

Unit 1: Introduction to Travel & Tourism

Unit 3: Handling Tour Operations

Unit 2 explores tour operations management, exposing candidates to the workings of both inbound and outbound tour operations. This unit further introduces the concept of marketing management which explores the relationship between contractors and key suppliers.

Unit 4 – Marketing In Tourism

Course content then moves on to tourism marketing management, incorporating a comprehensive investigation of promotional activities, the importance of market research, and how to create a professional marketing strategy. Marketing-effectiveness analysis is also discussed in this unit.

Unit 5 – Human Resource Management Strategies

In the fourth unit, candidates learn the various human resource management strategies, and the importance of key participants within the life cycle of tourism products and services. Candidates also explore how to adopt the various human resource management strategies to every level of tourism product or service provision.

Unit 6 – Transport Management

 This unit introduces candidates to the various activities that revolve around transport and logistics within the travel and tourism industry, such as planning, organisation and marketing of the different range of existing transport options. Candidates also learn how to manage transportation challenges, and the advantages and disadvantages of the various types of transportation options.

Unit 7 – Customer Quality Management

The last unit in this course focuses on customer quality management. Candidates learn the critical skills and knowledge required to build and manage quality customer service of premium standard. Unit 6 exposes candidates to the concepts of reputation and customer service management and more.

Career Path

With a level 3 certificate in travel and tourism, candidates may find promising work within the industry. You may find work as a customer care representative, holiday representative, travel agent, sales coordinator and more. The salary for those with a level 3 qualification in travel and tourism ranges from £18,000 to £50,000.
