Course Syllabus

Unit 2: Principles of Hotel Front Office Operations

In addition, they will be exposed to the sophistication involved in handling guests' checking-in and out. Ultimately, they will be wired with hotel front office operations skills that will ensure continued patronage from guests.

Unit 3: Role of the Maintenance Departments in Hotels (Housekeeping, Engineering and Security Operations)

The maintenance departments in the hotel are key to the smooth running of the hotel. Hence, in this unit, candidates will look into roles such as general hotel cleaning, regular checks of electronic devices, security of guests' lives and valuables, amongst other roles shouldered by these departments.

 

Unit 4: Recruitment and Selection: Policy and Procedures

In unit 4, the importance of recruiting and selecting bespoke talents for the hotel is well stressed. Also, candidates will gain valuable insight on established practices that should be adhered to during recruitment and selection.

Unit 5: Training and Development Procedures

Constantly building people is a major ingredient that ensures the existence of any business enterprise. In this unit, candidates will learn the significance of engaging both employees and employers by means of well-laid-out trainings. Similarly, they will be taught development procedures that will complement the trainings.

Unit 6: Quality Assurance Procedures in Hospitality

In this unit, the need for periodic internal assessment will be expounded to candidates. They will comprehend why it is done, the step-by-step procedures involved and what the findings be used for. Similarly, candidates will be better guided on internal policies to be adopted.

Unit 7: Hotel Marketing and Advertising Trends

With the everyday birth of trends, businesses that want to forge ahead will have to maximise them. In this unit, candidates will unearth how to study, analyze and utilise advertising trends to convincingly market the hotel. They will also learn communication angle and channels for advert.

Unit 8: Hotel Food and Beverage Management

In this unit, candidates will gain proficiency in managing food and drinks to the delight of guests, as well as the hotel. Also, they will grasp food and drinks etiquette, purchasing flow and generally, coordinating with experts to generate more funds for the hotel.

Unit 9: Effective Interdepartmental Communications

A way to provoke outstanding performance amongst employees is by facilitating effective communication. In this final unit, candidates will focus on the importance of keeping the flow of communication friendly and professional among colleagues of different departments.

Career Path

Candidates who successfully complete this course stand a chance to enjoy the various job possibilities that abound in the hotel and hospitality sector. They can choose to be consultants, hotel managers, front desk operation managers, entrepreneurs, amongst others; and can earn a salary scale from £20,000 to £50,000 depending on their level of experience.
